J.N. “Ding” Darling

On my recent visit to Bonita Springs, after encouragement from photographers at the Venice Rookery, I took a trip to the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) on Sanibel Island. Since it is only an hour from Bonita Springs, I was able to go there Saturday AM.

It was an unexpected bonus on my trip. I arrived at 6:50 (dawn was 7:00) and I was tenth in line.

Here is the first of many posts of my captures. These are all Reddish Egrets.

These are definitely dancing cranes. They seem to use their shadows while dancing to confuse their prey. It seemed to work.
